A Strategic Shift with Statewide Impact: OSU Pharmacy Consolidates at OHSU

Posted on Saturday, June 14, 2025

Oregon State University (OSU) has announced that starting in fall 2026, its Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program will be based entirely at Oregon Health & Science University’s (OHSU) Portland campus. This move expands OSU’s footprint in the Portland metro area and deepens its longstanding partnership with OHSU.

Since 2001, OSU and OHSU have jointly awarded the Pharm.D. degree, with students traditionally spending two years in Corvallis and their third in Portland. Under the new model, students will complete the entire program in Portland, streamlining the student experience and bringing pharmacy education closer to clinical and research settings. “This is a natural evolution for the college,” said David Bearden, Dean of OSU’s College of Pharmacy. “It allows for a more cohesive education while boosting research and clinical collaboration.”

Nearly 90% of the college’s students are enrolled in the Pharm.D. program, and about 40% of the faculty already teach in Portland. Ph.D. and master’s students will remain in Corvallis, along with many faculty, during a phased transition.

ARCS Oregon is proud to offer continued support to doctoral candidates in Pharmacy with the Hammond Family/OSU Pharmacy Endowment as this new chapter begins. With pharmacists increasingly recognized as frontline healthcare providers offering immunizations, consultations, prescribing treatments, and managing long-term care, this shift ensures OSU remains at the forefront of pharmaceutical education and practice in Oregon.
