There are many members who have continually shown exemplary support for our chapter and our mission over the years in a variety of ways. President Diana Gordon, called out special recognition in the form of the discretionary “President’s Award” to a member for her incredible service, acumen, and love of ARCS over the years.  

Barbara Giesy has been a member of ARCS Foundation Oregon since 2011. She is always willing to volunteer for a task with a smile and a positive attitude. She is someone who has the great gift of making you feel important - when you are talking with her, you have her full attention. She is often found at the registration table for various events, where she shines at making everyone who attends feel special. She brings this rare gift to bear with Oregon’s ARCS Scholars. Even those she has not personally supported, she takes the time to get to know them, and gives them words of encouragement. The scholars always respond to her in kind. Barbara has supported three scholars, two through her funding of the first University Matched Endowment in OHSU's School of Nursing because of her nursing background.
