ARCS Oregon Member Confirmed by Legislature for the Oregon State University Board

Posted on Wednesday, October 25, 2023

ARCS Oregon member Elise McClure joined Oregon State’s University’s Board of Trustees in July 2023, approved by the state legislature with five other new trustees. McClure earned her undergraduate degree in business at OSU and was inducted into OSU’s College of Business Hall of Fame in 2019.

McClure earned a J.D. from Willamette University’s College of Law. She is a retired finance executive who spent most of her career at Starbucks Corporation in Seattle. When McClure started at Starbucks in 1992, working on corporate tax function, the coffee company has 150 stores and revenue of $100 million.  When she retired, the company had more than 16,000 stores and revenue more than $10 billion.

McClure has remained active with OSU for years, as an OSU Foundation Trustee, and in the College the Business, and in the Women’s Giving Circle.  Her term as a trustee extends through June 2027. The trustees are volunteers with a commitment to public higher education.

“I welcome these new members to Oregon State University’s Board of Trustees and am very pleased to be able to work with them in the future,” said OSU President Jayathi Murthy. “OSU trustees provide stewardship of Oregon State’s mission in serving as Oregon’s statewide university. The diversity, experiences, skills and life contributions of these new board members will enrich an already strong board of trustees.”

Elise has been an ARCS Oregon member since 2018, and has been a member of the board, helped to lead the annual fundraising event, and hosted the Chapter’s members and guests at her home for a summer social.

She has been active with several other nonprofits, including Treehouse and Lifeworks Northwest.
