ARCS National Approves UO Human Physiology for Funding

Posted on Tuesday, January 28, 2020

The Oregon Chapter is pleased to announce that, at the recent national leadership meeting of ARCS Foundation, the UO Human Physiology PhD program was approved for ARCS funding.  This program is one of the oldest at the UO, founded in 1894 as the Department of Physical Education.  After a few other name changes, it became Human Physiology in 2004. Its current leader is Dr. John Halliwill.

This program focuses on human physiology and anatomy that will prepare scholars for careers in medicine, allied health professions, and biomedical research as well as faculty positions.  The department has a number of outstanding, funded laboratories that use physiological and engineering methods to evaluate human subjects under a broad spectrum of experimental conditions.  Researchers routinely work closely with physicians and other clinical personnel.

If you are interested in funding a PhD scholar in this program, please contact Anne Yoo or Julie Branford.
