Wheeler Foundation Provides Matching Opportunity

Posted on Friday, August 26, 2016

The Wheeler Foundation has given ARCS Oregon and its supporters a big opportunity – it will match up to $10,000 in new underwriting or donations to the Scholar Awards Luncheon to be held in October. New underwriters have already come forward for the chapter’s signature event, the largest event of the year. Donations will be accepted prior to the luncheon, the day of or can be mailed after the luncheon with a note mentioning the luncheon.  These donations will go directly towards future scholar awards.

The Wheeler Foundation exists to foster, develop, promote and encourage health, education and general welfare, focusing primarily on the residents of the Pacific Northwest, California and Arizona. It made a smaller matching grant available to ARCS Oregon in 2015 and that match was met.

Over 450 people are expected at the Scholar Awards Luncheon at the Portland Art Museum on October 18, 2016.The current 69 PhD students supported by the chapter will be introduced. The luncheon is the perfect way to learn about the ARCS mission and accomplishments in Oregon, talk with a scholar about his or her research during  the Poster Session, and to connect with other like-minded people who support the young scientists striving for new discoveries and innovation at Oregon’s research universities.

The Wheeler Foundation joins other Einstein Presenting Sponsors of the luncheon:
Hoffman Construction/Julie and Wayne Drinkward
OHSU and the OHSU Foundation
Oregon State University and the OSU Foundation
University of Oregon
