Dear Members and Friends:
ARCS Stands Strong with Science and in support of our scholars. As we face unprecedented threats to science, we are called to respond. The uncertainty of our current funding environment is existential for scientific research in the United States. Our mission to elevate the scientific enterprise in this country through the funding of the most promising PhD students in STEM fields remains the same and is more important than ever.
For the past 80 years, the research enterprise in the United States has been the envy of the world. The federal government is now cutting funding to the very programs that made us great—programs that have driven technological and societal progress, have sought alternative energy sources, inquired into responses to climate change, improved our basic understanding of physical, chemical and biological processes, and have improved health for humans and animals.
ARCS alone cannot save these programs, but ARCS members can educate our elected officials and community members about their importance. Science is not political. It is not partisan. It is an endeavor that seeks to answer questions that impact us all, Republican, Democrat, or otherwise. Call, write or email your elected representatives; attend town halls; participate in rallies. Please use your voice to stand strong with science!
