Posted on Wednesday, January 25, 2023

Nan is a long-time supporter of education for women. Through her work with Vietnamese foster children, Nan sponsors a Vietnamese female student at PSU. She is also active in the Oregon State University's  Women's Giving Circle and makes donations to friends and family so their kids can attend college. Nan finds great reward in seeing women realize their educational dreams and contribute to the world.

Nan graduated from Oregon State University's College of Pharmacy in 1970 and worked as a clinical pharmacist, Director of Pharmacy Services, and Health Care Administrator for Kaiser Permanente for 31 years. She led the conversion from paper health records to a computerized record by Epic Systems in 1993. This was Kaiser's first national electronic health record!

In 2004, Nan left Kaiser to start her own virtual health record consulting company, employing 15 pharmacists, nurses and physical therapists. Her team built clinical content for Epic customers across the US and in Oregon. Nan’s clients included OHSU, Cedar-Sinai, University of Rochester, Sutter Health, Kaiser Permanente, and more. Nan sold the company in 2016 after the death of her husband of 45 years.

Nan is currently retired and living in Lake Oswego. She is a member of the Lake Oswego Public Art Committee. She works with her daughter and her daughter’s wife to fully fund a foster care home in Da Nang, Vietnam for 16 girls. Nan is currently sponsoring a Vietnamese woman student, Trang, who is attending PSU and will graduate in the STEM major of Business Administration - supply chain and logistics in June 2023. Trang has lived with Nan since May 2019.

Nan also volunteers at the Canby Center through her golf club and works on community efforts in Lake Oswego and Portland. She sits on the OSU Women's Giving Circle Steering Committee and works with Planned Parenthood of Oregon as her daughter is an OB-GYN and Planned Parenthood physician in San Diego. Nan also donates to a number of non-profit causes including the Oregon Humane Society, Shriner's Hospital, and the ACLU.
